I tested the mounted CD on Media Player (not classic) as a music CD and the track including the song played well. Burning or mounting doesnt affect saved games, meaning you can switch between the actual and virtual CD and load your previously saved game. Note: This is the PC version. If you want the PlayStation version (PSX), I will post it later Mounting CDs FIX For the users who mount the CDs, heres the solution: Press Start and go to Run, type in regedit, drop down the following folders on the left side, hkeylocalmachine, software, square soft inc, final fantasy viii then click on 1.00. CD drive your using followed by:, ie f: and it will work fine, and to the problem with a missing disk is solved. It will work fine even without using the launcher nor changing anything in the registry. Anything that is VistaSeven 64bit ( x64 ) after SOFTWARE add Wow6432Node between it and whatever else is there (in this case Square Soft, Inc). NVidia FIX If you have NVidia videocard you might end up getting stupid black boxes, heres the fix for that: 1.
